Homemade Strawberry Petit Suisse: the taste of childhood in a healthy and delicious version
If there’s a dessert that brings smiles and memories to both kids and adults, it’s strawberry petit suisse. Creamy, sweet, smooth, and with that unmistakable fruity flavor that takes us straight back to snack time as children. But the best part is that now you can make it yourself at home, with natural ingredients, no preservatives, and all the flavor of the real petit suisse… but homemade!
Petit suisse originated in France in the 19th century, as an enriched version of fresh cheese. Over time, it evolved into that famous little pink cup that many of us have etched in our memories. It arrived in Spain with a bang in the 1980s and has since become a classic in family refrigerators, a staple of school snacks, and a favorite treat for many generations.
Today, as homemade food becomes increasingly popular, this recipe is making a comeback stronger than ever. Why? Because making homemade strawberry petit suisse is much easier than you think, and it also lets you control the ingredients: no excessive added sugars, real fruit, and a silky texture that has nothing to envy from the store-bought version.
To make homemade petit suisse you only need a few ingredients: fresh or frozen strawberries, cream cheese or quark, cream or natural yogurt, and a touch of honey or sugar to taste. Some versions also include plain gelatin to achieve a firmer texture, although it’s not essential.
The secret is to mash the fruit well, mix it with the cheese, and beat until you get a smooth, lump-free cream. Then, just divide it into little cups and let it chill in the fridge. In just a few hours, you'll have an irresistible, healthy dessert, perfect for the whole family.

This recipe, although modern in execution, connects with familiar flavors. It's perfect for little ones, who enjoy its creamy texture and naturally sweet taste, but also for adults looking for homemade, nutritious options without additives.
You can serve it as a dessert, a snack, or even as a light breakfast accompanied by cereal or fresh fruit. Plus, it's a great way to introduce more fruit into kids' diets in a fun and tasty way.
And if that weren't enough, you can customize it to your liking: swap the strawberries for banana, mango, blueberries, or a mix of red berries, use Greek yogurt to make it creamier, or even make a lactose-free version. Creativity has no limits!
